A stunning modern-day fairy tale from acclaimed author Anne Ursu Once upon a time, Hazel and Jack were best friends. But that was before he stopped talking to her and disappeared into a forest with a mysterious woman made of ice. Now it's up to Hazel to go in after him. Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's "The Snow Queen," "Breadcrumbs" is a story of the struggle to hold on, and the things we leave behind.

  1. This book had sections which were absolutely stunning, and others I found totally annoying. Dreamlike sporadic quality to the plot, intriguing but inconsistent characters. I kept hoping it would weave together the first half in the 'real world' and the second in the 'magic world', but it never did, and I ended up feeling the whole magical journey was pointless. So many characters from the first part never appeared in the second, leaving the reader wondering why they were introduced.
