Summary
When the state of Maine threatens to shut down their island's one-room schoolhouse because of dwindling enrollment, eleven-year-old Tess, a strong believer in luck, and her family take in a trumpet-playing foster child, to increase the school's population.
I read this one but remember little about it. Wondering if others will find it promising? It's gotten good reviews but truthfully, it hasn't stuck with me at all.
ReplyDeleteI liked how Lord worked in the idea of family being who and what you make it. It did not have a completely happy ending, which I liked. I can't say the writing was distinguished though.
