Summary
"Franny Chapman just wants some peace. But that's hard to get when her best friend is feuding with her, her sister has disappeared, and her uncle is fighting an old war in his head. Her saintly younger brother is no help, and the cute boy across the street only complicates things. Worst of all, everyone is walking around just waiting for a bomb to fall. It's 1962, and it seems the whole country is living in fear..."--Dust jacket flap.

  1. Although I liked the story in this one, the pictures and inserts left me feeling out of whack. I thought it was hard to get back into the story. This one is distinguished though and will be worth watching.

  2. Loved this one; thinking it could be an Honor at least. Fascinating the way Wiles juxtaposed the pictures, historical commentary and the narrative. I don't know what young readers will think; should be a good discussion in our group.

  3. Good book, i usually don't like these kinds of books (sorry) but the idea of coming from a kid's point of view is really great.
