Welcome to the SJCPL Mock Newbery 2011!

This year the SJCPL Mock Newbery Club is doing our youth club the same way, but we're adding a club for adults!

Our regular club for students aged 9-14 will meet once a month to discuss books and then vote on our winners on 2 consecutive days in January 2011. Registration for this club opens on June 1, 2010 from this link. And check out our SJCPL Mock Newbery Club page.

These are our meeting dates for 2010, all are held on Thursdays from 4:00-5:00 p.m. at the Main Library, Children's Services Storytime Room:

Sept. 9
Oct. 14
Nov. 11
Dec. 9

Our 2 voting dates in January 2011:
Thursday, January 6, 3:00-5:00 p.m.
Friday, January 7, 3:00-5:00 p.m.

And our adults Mock Newbery discussion and voting session will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2011. This will be an all-day session, from 9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. in the Main Library Children's Services Storytime Room. Registration for this program will begin May 1, 2010, from this link.

I'm heavily modeling our adult Mock Newbery Club after the Allen County Public Library's blog and procedures. Thanks, ACPL, for sharing your lists and ideas!

  1. How about some great new multicultural books? Red Umbrella is awesome, so is Leaving Gees Bend and Shooting Kabul.
